Securing and Illuminating the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain

By October 2017, all pharma supply chain businesses except dispensers will need to achieve secure, lot-based traceability. Both track and trace and serialization requirements will converge in 2023.  For pharmaceutical manufacturers and specialty cargo handlers, establishing the necessary security infrastructure across such broad communications and data transmission requirements is a significant challenge. A robust, end-to-end, and secure platform will provide both classes of users a way to fight the growing counterfeit drug problem, and the associated risk to patient safety.  An approach to such a system will be described and its advantages to both manufactures, logistics agents, and care providers will be discussed.
